Thomas Freel scored two goals for Maine in the 3-2 loss.

BOSTON – The #9 University of Maine men's hockey team fell to #8 Boston University, 3-2, on Friday night at Agganis Arena.

Maine took a 1-0 lead just 14 seconds into the contest thanks to Thomas Freel's first goal of the season. The Terriers, though, would go on to score three unanswered power-play goals to hold a 3-1 lead after two periods.

Freel struck again with a power-play goal of his own midway through the final period but the Black Bears were unable to find the equalizer down the stretch.

Maine had the 31-29 lead in shots on goal.
The Black Bears went 1-for-3 on the power play while the Terriers were 3-for-5.
Victor Ostman made 26 saves in moving to 6-2-1 on the year … made Mathieu Caron finished with 29 saves for Boston University
Thomas Freel scored his first goal of the season and then added a second for his first career multi-goal game … Freel now has seven points on the year off of two goals and five assists.
Bradly Nadeuy, Josh Nadeau, Luke Antonacci and Harrison Scott each recorded an assist.
Maine is now 57-74-4 all-time against Boston University with a mark of 20-42-7 in road games … the Black Bears are 2-6-0 against the Terriers under head coach Ben Barr.
This was the first top-10 meeting between these two programs since March 16, 2012.
