Beaton, Osborne turn in runner-up marks on final day of America East Outdoor Championships

Black Bears place sixth overall
Burlington, Vt. -- Zachary Beaton (decathlon) and Sebastian Osborne (shot put) led Maine with runner-up finishes on the final day of the America East Outdoor Championships. Overall, the Black Bears placed sixth in the event with 54.5 points.
Beaton placed second in the decathlon, improving his eighth best time on Maine's top-10 list with 6,126 points. On day two, Beaton placed second in the 110m hurdles (15.28), second in the pole vault (3.65m), second in the 1500m (4:53.06), fifth in the discus (27.55m), and sixth in the javelin (40.01m).
Osborne moved into fourth on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the shot put with a mark of 16.28m, good for second in the event. Osborne added a ninth place showing in the discus at 44.43m. Jonathan Prell came home fourth in the shot put with a throw of 15.76m.
Cameron Hughes finished fifth in the discus at 47.18m while Ryan Gendron added a fifth place tally after clearing 1.91m in the high jump.
Michael O'Clair placed seventh in the 400m hurdle with a time of 55.80 and was followed by Conner Michaud who placed ninth in the event at 56.34.
Alec Troxell paced Maine in the distance events, moving into 10th on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the 5000m event with a final time of 14:45.49.
