Bissell, Olivier capture individual titles
Boston, Mass. - Jeremy Bissell (heptathlon) and James Olivier (800m) each captured individual titles as the Black Bears placed fourth overall with 79 points at the 2022 America East Indoor Championships.
Bissell captured the heptathlon title with 4,943 points, the second highest point total in the event in Maine history. Bissell won the 60m (7.20), the shot put (12.77m), and the pole vault (4.05m) and his way to the championship in the event. Zachary Beaton was the runner-up in the event as his point total of 4,729 placed him sixth on Maine's all-time top-10 list. Beaton was the runner-up in the 60m (7.26), the long jump (6.85m), and the 1000m (2:54.51).
Olivier continued his impressive showings in the 800m after posting a championship winning time of 1:51.41 in the event.
Maine placed second and third in the 60m hurdle with Griffin Lawson leading the way with a runner-up showing. His time of 8.28 in the event bettered his second ranking top-time in school history. Eamon Sweeney followed Lawson, placing third with a time of 8.31. That time placed him third on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the event.
Sebastian Osborne was the runner-up in the shot put with a mark of 15.66m. Osborne was followed in the event by Jonathan Prell who placed seventh with a throw of 14.68m. Cameron Hughes came home ninth in the event at 14.55m.
Ben Cotton placed fifth in the 60m dash final with a time of 6.98. Alec Troxell's time of 8:14.96 in the 3000m placed him sixth in the event and second on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the 3000m.
Ryan Gendron was Maine's top finisher in the high jump, tying for seventh after clearing 1.90m.
Kamundala Crispin placed 11th in the triple jump at 13.15m while Luke Marsanskis added a 13th place showing in the 3000m with a time of 8:25.77.
