Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Black Bears Fall to #12 River Hawks, 4-3

LOWELL, Mass. – The University of Maine men's ice hockey team fell to #12 UMass Lowell, 4-3, on Saturday night.
 
FIRST GOAL (1-0 UMass Lowell) – The River Hawks were the first to score in the contest as Andrew Lee got his team on the board at the 10:45 mark. His power play goal marked his 11th of the season. Jon McDonald and Matt Crasa picked up the assists.
 
SECOND GOAL (2-0 UMass Lowell) – Ryan Brushett would keep the power play scoring going for his squad as his 6th of the season gave the River Hawks a two goal lead and their second power play score of the game. Nick Austin and Reid Stefanson picked up the assists.
 
THIRD GOAL (3-0 UMass Lowell) – Zach Kaiser would cap off a three-goal first period for the River Hawks as he netted his second of the season. His score came off of the feed by Sam Knoblauch.
 
FOURTH GOAL (3-1 Maine) – David Breazeala gets the Black Bears on the board with his second of the season. His score came off of great feeds from Grant Herbert and Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup.
 
FIFTH GOAL (3-2 Maine) – Following a steal on the defensive end by Ben Poisson, Donavan Willeneuve-Houle scored his 8th goal of the season and trimmed the River Hawks lead down to a single goal. Poisson picked up the lone assist on the goal.
 
SIXTH GOAL (4-2 UMass Lowell) – Jordan Schulting gets the River Hawks back into the scoring column with his first goal of the season. Andre Lee and Reid Stefanson picked up the assists.
 
SEVENTH GOAL (4-3 Maine) – Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup scores his third of the season to get the Black Bears to within one as time was drawing to an end. His score with 2:50 left in the third was assisted by Samuel Duerr and Grant Hebert.
 
Victor Ostman finished with 29 saves on 33 shots in the losing effort.
 
Following a weekend off, the Black Bears are back in action on Friday, Jan. 28 as the Boston College Eagles head to Alfond Arena for a single game.
