Blanca Millan has been named one of five finalist for the 2021 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, presented by Her Hoop Stats.
Millan who recently became the only women's player in America East history to capture the league's Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors twice each in a career, earned her third selection to the America East All-Conference First Team. As of March 10, Millan ranks 17th in the country at 21.4 points per game. The fifth-year guard has registered double-digit scoring totals in all 19 of Maine's games while besting 20 on 11 occasions. Millan, who leads the America East in six statistical categories, ranks fifth on Maine's all-time scoring list (1,954), second all-time in steals (322), and third in three-point field goals made (214). Defensively, Millan checks in 13th in the nation at 2.95 steals per game.
To be eligible for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, players must compete in one of the 26 conferences deemed to be "mid-major". The following conferences are considered high-major for the purposes of this award, and thus ineligible: ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC. The winner will be announced in late March.
