Orono, Maine -- University of Maine head women's basketball coach
Amy Vachon has announced that
Maeve Carroll will return to the Black Bears for a fifth season of eligibility after the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.
Carroll is eligible to return for a fifth-year due to the NCAA's ruling to give all basketball student-athletes a free year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We are thrilled that Maeve has chosen to pursue her master's degree in business and return to our program for a fifth-year," Vachon said. "Maeve has developed into one of the best players in the conference and we are excited that she will be back to help lead a young team next year."
Carroll earned a spot on the America East all-conference second team as a junior after leading the league in double-doubles while averaging 12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. As of Feb. 16, Carroll has appeared in 12 games for Maine with 10 starts during the 2020-21 season. At the time of writing, Carroll is averaging 10.4 points and 6.5 rebounds.
