Men's Hockey Falls in Final Game at #16/NR Providence

Providence, Rhode Island - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #16/NR Providence College Friars, 3-2, on Saturday Afternoon in the Schneider Arena.
First Goal (1-0 #16/NR Providence): The Friars once again struck first. All four goals on the weekend have come from a defenseman. This time, it was no different. Cam McDonald scored his first goal of the season at the 6:54 mark of the first period. The odd angle goal gave his squad an early 1-0 lead.
Second Goal (1-1): While on the penalty kill, Eduards Tralmaks scored the game tying goal. Adam Dawe forced a turnover that was picked up by JD Greenway. The defenseman fired the puck ahead to Tralmaks, who did the rest. After two periods, the Hockey East contest was tied 1-1.
Third Goal (2-1 #16/NR Providence): With traffic in front of Victor Ostman, Matt Koopman gave his squad one goal advantage early in the third period. After a scrum in front of the Maine net, Koopman was able to get his stick on the puck and direct it into the opening.
Fourth Goal (3-1 #16/NR Providence): As their power play expired, Albin Nilsson scored his first career goal. Once again, the lamplighter was a benefactor of traffic in front of the Maine netminder. The goal came with just over eight minutes left in regular.
Fifth Goal (3-2 #16/NR Providence): Tralmaks added his second of the evening with under a minute remaining in the contest. Unfortunately, it was as close as Maine would get as they dropped the final game in Providence, 3-2.
Notes: Victor Ostman stopped 30 shots for the Black Bears, Jaxson Stauber tallied 21 saves for Providence.
Maine went 0 for 4 on their power play opportunities, as the Friars were 0-3 on their player advantages.
The Black Bears blocked 14 shots as a team.
Next: Maine is scheduled to return to the ice next Friday, January 22nd for a series at Boston University.
