ORONO, Maine – University of Maine hockey junior goaltender Jeremy Swayman has been selected as one of three Hat Trick Finalists for the 2020 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, the top honor in Division I college hockey.

The three finalists were selected from the initial list of Top Ten candidates by the 30-member Selection Committee and an additional round of online fan balloting to determine this year's Hobey Baker winner. Criteria for the award includes: displaying outstanding skills in all phases of the game, strength of character on and off the ice, sportsmanship and scholastic achievements.

Swayman, a fourth round draft pick of the Boston Bruins in 2017, finished his junior season at Maine with stellar numbers. He played in over 2,000 minutes and led the nation in saves with 1,099, a school record, also posting a 2.07 goals against average and his .939 save percentage was second in the nation. He faced 1,170 shots and allowed just 71 goals. He stopped more than 30 shots 25 times during the season, more than 40 twice and more than 50 (52) once.  Swayman, who earned Hockey East Player of the Year and Mike Ritcher Finalist honors, is a Management major with a 3.38 GPA.

This year's Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced Saturday, April 11, 2020 live on ESPN's SportsCenter during the 11pm ET show. This will replace the originally scheduled Friday, April 10 announcement time due to the dramatic changes the coronavirus has created. The 40^th annual Hobey Baker Award segment on SportsCenter will also include the announcements of the Hockey Humanitarian Award, the East and West All-American Teams and the Mike Richter Award for the nation's top college hockey goalie.
