Women's Swim and Dive Posts Strong Showing at Bowdoin

BOWDOIN, Maine -- The University of Maine women's swimming and diving squad posted eight wins and one relay victory on Saturday in a non-scoring meet at Bowdoin.
Senior Sabrina Nuttall paced the field in the sprints, picking up victories in both the 50-yard breaststroke (30.30) and the 50-yard freestyle event (25.08).
Morgan Bui stood on the podium three times in the breaststroke events, winning the 100 at 1:08.21, placing second in the 200 with a time of 2:28.79 and finishing third in the 50 (31.67). Kayla Loughman scored a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, edging out Bui with a winning time of 2:27.68 and placed second in the 100-yard IM at 1:01.01.
Emma Blair touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.78 and was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.94. Valentina Rengifo scored a first place showing in the 200-yard IM (2:11.72) and finished third in the 100-yard back at 1:01.29.
Anna McCurdy and Alex Bromley each posted individual victories as McCurdy won the 200-yard fly (2:22.60) and Bromley scored a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:38.11).
Caroline Strolic had a strong showing with three trips to the podium. Strolic was the runner-up in the 50-yard back (28.37) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.93) while placing third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.82.
Ines Khiyara finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.21) and was third in both the 100-yard IM (1:01.33) and the 200-yard back events (2:16.31).
The team of Blair, Loughman, Khiyara and Sarah Mansfield teamed up to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 1:40.28.
On the diving boards, PhilAnn Dixon was the runner-up in both the 1-meter (239.17) and 3-meter (206.40) events.
Maine closes out the regular season when it travels to meet Providence College on Jan. 25 at 11 a.m.
