Men's Track and Field Pushes the Pace at UNH Pre-Championship Invitational

DURHAM, New Hampshire— The Maine men's track and field team competed in the UNH Pre-Conference Invitational on Saturday, placing fifth with 57 points.
Opening the events, a pair of Black Bears competed in the 100 meter dash, as Mitchell Budroe finished at 11.53 with Seth White behind him at 11.68 in the event.
In the 800 meter finals, freshman Travis Nickerson crossed at 2:00.20, earning the third-best time in the outdoor season. Finishing behind him was freshman Abbas Muktar at 2:03.32, and Michael Croft at 2:07.09.
Colin Tardiff finished the 1500 meters at 4:14.34 for his second best outdoor time this season. In the 5000 meter race, senior Daniel Lesko completed at 15:55.90 and Jacob Terry at 16:18.67.
The 4x100 relay of Seth White, Hunter White, Dylan Smith, Mitchell Budroe crossed at 44.55, for a first place finish and the third-best time of the outdoor season in the event.
Sophomore Hunter White finish the high jump at 1.80 meters, tying his highest mark for the season. Sam Bonnevie tied the outdoor season-best 4.25 meter pole vault.
Three Black Bears finished together in the long jump, with Dylan Smith finishing a 6.42 meter jump and Kyle Jacques a 6.41 meter jump. Zachary Westman finished with a 6.37 meter long jump before taking second place triple jump at 13.40 meters.
In throwing events, Sebastian Osborne earned a 13.91 meter shot put and 41.65 meter discus final. Isaiah Allen finished behind him with a 31.25 meter discus throw, while Mark Slusher had a 33.10 meter hammer throw and 49.87 meter javelin. Zach Andrews finished behind him at 46.40 meter javelin.
The Black Bears will be competing in the America East Championships next weekend in Albany, New York.
