Maine Swimming and Diving Announce Team Awards

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's and women's swimming and diving team held their annual awards banquet on Saturday, April 1 at the Black Bear Inn.
The team voted on all the awards, except for ther Erin Woolley Award, which was selected by the coaching staff.
The Switzer Dedication Award was presented to Shayla Kleisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Jake Gutkes (Toms River, New Jersey)
The Most Valuable Swimmer award was awarded to Juliana McDonald (Bangor, Maine) on the women's side. Shane Kinnon (Malden, Massachusetts ) and Kevin Clyne (Salem, Massachusetts) shared the award on the men's side.
The Most Improved Award went to Becca Fintonis (Framingham, Massachusetts) on the women's side, and Dylan Jorge (Wappingers Falls, New York) on the men's side.
The Chandler Comeback Award went to Kailey Dowd (Upton, Massachusetts) on the women's side, and Kinnon on the men's side.
The Palmer Plaque for Academic Excellence went to Victoria Kingston (Bradford, Ontario) on the women's side and Ben Herbert (South Berwick, Maine) on the men's side.
The Miller Diving Award went to Kyle Adams (Bangor, Maine)The Senior Service Award went to Cece Mceachern (Ellsworth, Maine).
The Erin Woolley Memorial Award went to Kate Pontius (Portland, Maine) and Hawthorne Swan-Scott. The Erin Woolley Memorial Award will be awarded annually in memory of Erin Woolley (1984-2010), who was a member of the swimming and diving team from 2002-2006. Woolley never failed to brighten the day with her spirit, spunk and zest for life in and out of the pool. Her dedication led to inspiring performances, often as "lead dog" at America East. She left us far too soon, but her memory and character are forever in our hearts. The Erin Woolley Memorial Award will be awarded annually to an underclass member of the team that best embodies the contributions that Woolley made to the program.
The Jeff Wren Rookie of the Year Award went to Emma Blair (Brunswick, Maine) on the women's side and Adams on the men's side.
