Baseball Splits Doubleheader Against Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Maine Baseball split the doubleheader Saturday against Albany. The Black Bears lost game one, 7-1. Maine bounced back in game two with a 5-2 victory, they are now 17-28 overall and 6-10 in America East play.
Game one featured Logan Fullmer starting on the mound for the Black Bears.
Albany opened with the first run of the game in the bottom of the second, as Joey Tracy hit a sacrifice fly to center field.
Tre Todd singled to center scoring the second run for the Great Danes in the bottom of the sixth. Connor Powers later doubled down the right field line driving in two, as Albany was on top 4-0. Joey Tracy again hit a sacrifice fly to center to add one more.
In the bottom of the eighth, Connor Powers doubled adding another run and took a 6-0 lead. Karson Canaday singled to center scoring the seventh run for Albany as they increased their lead, 7-0.
Maine added on run in the top of the ninth with Tyler Schwanz a double to left center scoring Jeremy Pena.
Fullmer finished with six innings of work allowing eight hits, five runs and four strikeouts. He received the loss as his record is now 3-2 on the year.

Game two featured John Arel on the hill for the Black Bears.
Colin Ridley singled up the middle in the top of the first driving in two runs as Maine took an early 2-0 lead.
Jonathan Salcedo in the top of the fourth singled to left center driving in Brenden Geary on third as Maine increased their advantage, 3-0.
Colin Ridley tallied his third and fourth RBI's of the day with a two-run home run to right field as Maine opened the game to 5-0.
Albany added two runs in the bottom of the sixth with a RBI single from Kyle Sacks and then Matt Hinchy singled to short, bringing the score 5-2 Black Bears.
John Arel finished with six innings of work, allowing four hits, two runs none of them were earned and nine strikeouts.
Nick Silva came on for the save opportunity and shut down the Great Danes for his fourth save of the year.
The rubber game of the series is tomorrow beginning at 12:00 p.m.
