Maine Baseball Falls To Stony Brook On Senior Day

ORONO, Maine -- Maine baseball falls to Stony Brook in the rubber game of the series 9-0 on Senior Day at Mahaney Diamond. Maine falls to 18-31 on the season and 7-13 in conference play. Stony Brook improves to 22-24 and 11-8 in conference play.
Before the game, Jake Marks, Brett Chappell, Charlie Buter, Kevin Stypulkowski, Brenden Geary, Logan Fullmer and Jonathan Salcedo were honored for Senior Day for the Maine Black Bears.
Chris Murphy received the start on the mound for Maine and Tyler Honahan for the Seawolves. Murphy went three innings, allowing three runs and received the loss falling to 0-3 on the year. Honahan went the distance carrying a no-hitter into the bottom of the fifth, he is now 4-6 on the season.
In the top of the first, Bobby Honeyman singled to center scoring one run. Later, Johnny Caputo reached on a fielder's choice as Honeyman scored giving Stony Brook a 2-0 lead.
Jack Parenty drove in the third Seawolves run with a single to right center in the top of the second.
Toby Handley doubled to left center in the top of the fifth, driving in one Stony Brook run for a 4-0 advantage.
In the top of the sixth, Casey Baker forced a bases loaded walk to drive the fifth run of the day for the Seawolves. Bobby Honeyman later grounded out to the pitcher scoring another run and taking a 6-0 lead.
Jack Parenty drove in two runs in the top of the seventh with a two RBI single to left field. Casey Baker also singled to left field scoring another Stony Brook run for a 9-0 margin.
Maine travels to Boston College for a mid-week game on May 17 at 3:00 p.m.
