Baseball Hosts Stony Brook For Three Game America East Clash

ORONO, Maine -- Maine returns to Orono for their final homestand of the season. Maine Baseball is proud to welcome back the 1976 and 1986 College World Series teams to the university for Alumni Weekend. Game one begins at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, pre-game ceremonies for the 1976 and 1986 will begin at 2:30 p.m. The Black Bears host Stony Brook for a three game America East series. Game three of the series on Sunday is Senior Day.
Maine - Stony Brook Series History
Maine and Stony Brook have met a total of 70 times in their series history. Maine trails the all-time series 28-42. In their last meeting, the Seawolves swept the series. Stony Brook currently has a seven game winning streak against Maine, with the Black Bears last victory coming in 2014, 2-1.
Scouting the Black Bears

He is second on the team in strikeouts (58) to John Arel who has 62. Nick Silva took over as closer when Fullmer was placed in the starting role, Silva has compiled four saves on the year. He has appeared in 17 games and has struck out 40 batters.

Stony Brook is currently standing in third place in the America East conference standings. Last week they were swept by America East first place team Binghamton in a three game series. The Seawolves last win was against NYIT May 7, in a 7-5 victory.
Andruw Gazzola leads Stony Brook hitters this season with a .333 batting average, he also leads the team in hits with 55 this season. Johnny Caputo leads the Seawolves in RBI's with 26 and home runs with four on the year.
Bret Clarke leads the Stony Brook pitching staff with a 2.15 ERA this season. Clarke has compiled a 5-2 record and has pitched in 46.1 innings, allowing opponents to hit .237 and has struck out 43 batters this season. Teddy Rodliff is their closer who has seven saves on the year along with a 2.27 ERA.
