ORONO, Maine -- Members of the University of Maine swimming & diving teams will be on hand assisting and participating at the fourth annual "Erin's Run: A Race to End Domestic Violence" on Saturday, May 7 at the Bangor Waterfront.
For the past three year's, the Black Bear Swim & Dive program have been heavily involved in volunteering and participating in "Erin's Run" - a race to end domestic violence.
Erin's Run is an annual 5K road race in Bangor, Maine held in honor of Erin McGrath Woolley and in support of Spruce Run, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving people affected by domestic abuse and a program in Erin's honor for a member of the University of Maine Swimming and Diving Team.
One of the two beneficiaries of Erin's Run is a scholarship set up through the University of Maine Athletic Boosters. The Erin M. Woolley Scholarship Fund is an award given annually to an underclassman member of Maine swimming and diving that best embodies the contributions of dedication, spirit, and spunk that Erin made to the program.
