Women's Hockey Splits Weekend Series With Providence

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - After beating Providence Saturday afternoon 3-1, Maine Women's Ice Hockey was shut out by Providence College Sunday afternoon 1-0.
The game remained scoreless through the first period, the lone goal in the game came from Cassidy Carels, 17:20 into the second period for her 8th goal of the season. Both teams went 0-4 on the power play, and Providence just outshot Maine, 24-20.
Meghann Treacy saved 23 of 24 shots she faced, 47 on the weekend which brings her career Hockey East saves total to 1,877, solidifying at least a 6th place spot in Hockey East history. Her record falls to 7-16-2 overall. Providence goaltender Madison Myers stopped all 20 shots she faced for the shutout, her record improves to 8-11-1.
Maine returns to the Alfond this weekend, February 5th and 6th for their final home series of the regular season, facing Merrimack; both games are at 2pm.
