Women's Soccer Falls to Dartmouth 3-0

Saco, Maine-- The University of Maine Women's Soccer Team was shutout by Dartmouth 3-0 at a neutral site game played at Thornton Academy.
With the loss, the Black Bears fall to 5-4-1 and Dartmouth improves to 7-1-2 with their win. The Dartmouth offense was in control for most of the game, outshooting Maine 18-7 and 11-5 in shots on goal.
Claudia Dube-Trempe made eight saves, while Casey Cousineau of Dartmouth made a total of five saves and earned a shutout.
The first half was scoreless, but Dartmouth came out strong in the second half and put themselves on the board just eight minutes in. Melanie Vangel scored the first goal, with a shot high and wide over Dube-Trempe.
The next goal scored was an own goal by Maine, in which the ball hit a Maine player and bounced wide of Dube-Trempe. Dartmouth's third and final goal was an unassisted goal scored by Jessica Lukas. Dube-Trempe was out of her goal to make the block, and Lukas beat her to the ball and sent it high and wide over the goalkeeper.
Maine returns home to host Umass Lowell on Sunday, Oct 4 at 12pm.
