Justin Courtney Named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American

TUSCON, Ariz. -- University of Maine baseball rookie pitcher Justin Courtney (Bangor, Maine) was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American on Wednesday. Courtney becomes the latest in a long list of Black Bears to receive the honor over the years.
Courtney had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Black Bears, typically starting Maine's first game of a weekend series. He finished 5-6 on the season with a team-best 3.24 ERA in 72.1 innings. Courtney pitched a pair of complete games on the season.
He was named to the America East Second Team and also earned a spot on the America East All-Rookie Team. Courtney was named America East Rookie of the Week twice this season.
Courtney will pitch for the Bellingham Bells of the West Coast League this summer.
