Baseball Falls to Hartford in Elimination Game

LOWELL, Mass. -- The University of Maine baseball team saw its season come to an end on Friday afternoon with an 11-2 loss to Hartford in the 2015 America East Tournament.
Maine falls 24-28 on the season with the loss, while Hartford improves to 23-30.
Hartford got on the board with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Chris DelDebbio doubled to right field and scored when Ryan Lukach singled to left field.
Hartford added to its lead with a run in the bottom of the third inning. David MacKinnon singled to left field and scored when Ben Bengtson grounded out.
The Hawks extended their lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the third inning. TJ Ward singled to shortstop, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored when Trey Stover doubled to right center. DelDebbio followed with a single to left field scoring Stover. MacKinnon singled to left field. Nick Campana walked to load the bases. DelDebbio and MacKinnon scored on a Bengtson single.
The Hawks added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend its lead to 8-0.
Maine got on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning. Sam Balzano (Portland, Maine), Alex Cabrera (Miami, Fla.) and Scott Heath (Westbrook, Maine) all singled to load the bases with no outs. Luke Morrill (South Thomaston, Maine) then singled to right field scoring both Balzano and Cabrera.
Hartford got a run in the bottom of the sixth when Bengtson tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly.
The Hawks added two in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-run single by Nick Campana.
Scott Heath allowed six runs, five of which were earned on nine hits. He falls to 6-4 on the season. Logan Fullmer (Lebanon, Pa.) allowed five runs on seven hits over 2.2 innings. Jacob Gosselin-Deschesnes (Montreal, Quebec) went 1.1 innings and did not allow a hit.
Sam McKay allowed two runs on 12 hits over 7.2 innings for the Hawks. He improves to 4-7 on the season. Justin Roberge went 1.1 innings for the Hawks.
