Heath, Morrill, Courtney and Fullmer Honored by America East

LOWELL, Mass. – University of Maine baseball seniors Luke Morrill (South Thomaston, Maine) and Scott Heath (Westbrook, Maine) were each named to the America East First Team on Wednesday night at the annual awards BBQ. Justin Courtney (Bangor, Maine) was named to the America East Second Team and the America East All-Rookie squad, while Logan Fullmer (Lebanon, Pa.) was named to the America East Second Team and the America East All-Academic Team.
In addition, Morrill and Heath were named to the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association DI All-New England team. Morrill was named to the First Team as a third baseman, while Heath was named to the Third Team as a utility player.
Morrill was named to the America East First Team at third base. He leads Maine in hitting with a .357 average with 34 runs scored and 28 RBI. He has 16 doubles to go along with a pair of home runs. He has a .488 slugging percentage and a .433 on-base percentage with seven stolen bases.
Heath was a unanimous America East First Team selection as a utility player. Last season, Heath was named to the America East First Team as a designated hitter and the America East Second Team as a first baseman. He has seen action at first base, left field, on the mound and as Maine's designated hitter this season. He is hitting .301 with 33 runs scored and 29 RBI. He has 16 doubles and six home runs. Heath is 6-3 on the season with a 3.86 ERA. In a team-high 79.1 innings, Heath leads the team with 60 strikeouts.
Courtney was named to both the America East Second Team and was a unanimous selection to the America East All-Rookie Team. He is 5-5 on the season with a team-best 2.83 ERA. Courtney has been named America East Rookie of the Week on two of the past three weeks. He has picked up wins in each of his past three starts, allowing one run on less in those games.
Fullmer was named to both the America East Second Team and the America East All-Academic Team. He is 1-1 on the season with a 3.11 earned run average out of the bullpen. Fullmer has appeared in 20 games on the season and is tied for the team-lead in saves with four. He picked up a pair of saves last weekend at Albany. Fullmer is a food science and human nutrition major with an impressive 3.74 GPA. His GPA was third best on the All-Academic Team.
The Black Bears return to action when they face UMBC in the America East Tournament on Thursday, May 21. First pitch against the Retrievers is set for 5 PM at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.
