The Black Bears added two more runs in the top of the third thanks to three-straight errors by the River Hawks. Sarah Coyne (Newtown, Pa.) and Rachel Carlson (Tampa, Fla.) each reached on errors before Coyne came in to score after Lennon too reached on a UMass Lowell throwing mishap. Carlson soon came in to score when the River Hawks threw down to second to catch Lennon stealing.
Maine's lead moved to 4-0 in the top of the fourth after Byron's single up the middle brought around Jessica Burk (Warrenton, Va.) from second.
The River Hawks staged a comeback in the home half of the fourth as they cut Maine's lead down to one run with a three-run bottom of the inning. Abby Jamieson brought in Emilia Davies on an RBI double before Ally Greene plated two more runs on her double to the gap in left center.
The Black Bears answered with two runs in the top of the sixth to once again distance themselves from the River Hawks. Byron drove in her second run of the day with a double to left center to plate Burk before pinch-hitter Faythe Goins (Elgin, S.C.) brought in Byron with Maine's sixth run of the day.
Erin Bogdanovich closed out the final two innings for the Black Bears to give Maine the weekend sweep of UMass Lowell.
