
Sundquist School Record Leads Maine at ECAC Championships

ORONO, Maine – Nicholas Sundquist (Windham, Maine) set a school record in the 200 IM to lead the University of Maine men's swim team at the ECAC Championships on Friday in Pittsburgh, Pa. The men's team ranks 10th after one day of competition with 43 points.
Sundquist posted a time of 1:50.57 in the preliminaries to qualify for the finals. He broke his school mark of 1:53.91 that he set earlier this season. He swam a 1:52.44 in championship to finish in eighth place.
Tim Edison (Westford, Massachusetts) swam a 1:59.07 in the 200-yard IM.
Maine's 400-yard medley relay team of Connor Mayhew (Waterboro, Maine), Ryan Fahey (Quincy, Massachusetts), Eric Gaulin (Northport, Maine) and Edison posted a time of 3:29.28 to finish second in the consolation final.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Cameron Dwyer (Orono, Maine), Eric Gaulin, Sundquist and Matt England (Bangor, Maine) touched in 1:26.38 to advance to Friday night's finals. The team won the consolation final with a time of 1:25.21.
England placed 21st in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.70, while Gaulin was 32nd in the same event in 22.03.
Fahey was 31st in the 500-yard freestyle as he posted a 4:42.86.
Competition at the 2015 ECAC Championships continues on Saturday.
