Great Performances and a School-Record at Day Three of America East Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Impressive performances including a school record highlighted Day Three of the 2015 America East Swimming and Diving Championships. Taylor Sharp (Burlington, Ontario) and Naja Harvey (Burlington, Ontario) each had a pair of third places finishes.
Maine took three of the top eight spots in the 100-yard butterfly. Sharp finished third with a time of 56.34, while Emma Pontius (Portland, Maine) was fifth in 56.48 and Katerina Mosquera-Cardi (Montreal, Quebec) placed eighth in 57.36. Victoria Kingston (Bradford, Ontario) placed 13th with a time of 57.96.
Hayli Weitz (Long Beach, N.Y.) placed eighth in the 3-meter diving with a score of 181.65 in the finals. She had a score of 204.10 in the prelims. Kayla Bousfield (Glenburn, Maine) finished 13th with a score of 149.90.
Chloe Adams (Davie, Florida) was eighth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.42. Courtney Norman (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) placed 16th with a time of 1:56.21.
Maine took four of the top 12 spots in the 100-yard breaststroke. Harvey touched in 1:02.83 to finish third. Abby Linn (Elkhart, Indiana) was ninth in 1:05.39. Cecelia McEachern (Ellsworth, Maine) was 11th with a time of 1:07.10, while Samantha Mathieu (Oakland, Maine) was 12th with a time of 1:07.97.
Amber Murray (Dover Foxcroft, Maine) placed eighth in the 100-yard backstroke. Emily Borger (Air Force Base, Massachusetts) finished ninth, winning the consolation race. She posted a time of 57.49, breaking Murray's record of 57.84, set last year. Emily Buczkowski (Wolwich, Maine) was 15th win a time of 59:04.
Maine's 400-yard medley relay team of Borger, Harvey, Pontius and Sharp placed fifth, touching in time of 3:51.63.
The 2015 America East Swimming and Diving championships conclude on Sunday, Feb. 15. Sessions are slated for 10 AM and 5:30 PM.
