
Gustafsson's Career-High Leads Maine Past Dartmotuh

HANOVER, N.H. -- Mikaela Gustafsson tallied a career-high 18 points as the University of Maine women's basketball team defeated Dartmouth 59-41 on Sunday afternoon.
Sigi Koizar added 15 points and Bella Swan chipped in eight points and nine rebounds for the Black Bears who finished 21-for-47 from the floor (44.7%), hitting six of 15 attempts from 3-point range.
Maine's defense was on point early, holding Dartmouth to just a single point over the opening 8:36 of the contest and carried a 9-3 lead into the second quarter.
The Black Bears continued to build on their lead, staging a 10-0 run through the second quarter and led 26-12 at the break.
Gustafsson totaled 12 points in the opening half.
Dartmouth tightened the gap, outscoring Maine 21-12 in the third quarter, closing the gap to just four after three quarters.
Maine regroup and turned the tables in the fourth, securing the victory with a 21-8 run in the fourth to capture the 59-41 victory.
The Black Bears return to the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday, Dec. 12 when they host Bryant at 1 p.m.
