Women's Ice Hockey Blanked by #2 Boston College

ORONO, Maine - The 2nd Ranked Boston College Eagles scored 5 unanswered goals Saturday afternoon in the first game of a 2 game series. The Eagles came in to Alfond Arena undefeated on an undefeated 17-0-0 season, while Maine was riding a 5 game losing skid into the series.
Boston College scored in every period, starting very early in the first, 2 minutes and 22 seconds into the period off the stick of Kali Flanagan. Later in the first the second goal was scored by Haley Skarupa, assisted by Hockey East Player of the Month Alex Carpenter in 1 of her 4 points on the afternoon. BC led 2-0 after 1.
In the second BC got off to another quick scoring start, getting another past Meghann Treacy 3:10 into the period, by Kaliya Johnson, again assisted by Carpenter. Meghann Treacy left the game after that goal, having saved 19 of the 22 shots she faced. She was relieved by Mariah Fujimagari, who kept the Eagles from scoring again in the third, keeping the score at 3-0.
The goaltending change only slowed down the Eagles slightly, as they were back on the score sheet 1 minute and 21 seconds into the third, where Alex Carpenter notched her 3rd point of the afternoon on a goal from Kenzie Kent. About 8 minutes later Kali Flanagan got her second goal of the afternoon from Carpenter and Kent, which notched the final score at 5-0.
BC goaltender Katie Burt saved all 15 shots she faced for the shutout, and improves to 14-0-0 on the season. Fujimagari saved 20 of the 22 shots she faced in the 2nd and third period, while Treacy got the L for the Black Bears.
The 2 teams face off again at Alfond Arena at 2pm on Sunday, December 6th.
