ORONO, Maine -- Maine will play three games in its first trip to the Gulf Coast showcase. The Black Bears will begin play against Dayton which advanced to the regional finals in the NCAA tournament following a 28-7 season.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
A year after capturing its own Thanksgiving Tournament championship with a victory over Boston College, Maine takes to the road for the Gulf Coast Showcase. Maine will look to keep its winning streak alive as it continues non-conference action after winning its last two outings including a most recent 62-42 triumph over Central Connecticut State. In the win, Sigi Koizar led Maine with 21 points while Liz Wood added her 18th career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Koizar, who has tallied double-figures in 10-straight games, leads the Black Bears, averaging 16.8 points, 5.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds, ranking 62nd in the nation in assists. Koizar is shooting 50% from behind the 3-point arc, ranking her first in the league and 41st in the nation. Mikaela Gustafsson is chipping in 9.8 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 48.7% from the floor to lead the team. Liz Wood is adding 9.2 points and leads the team with 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 steals. Wood ranks 37th in the country in steals.
Maine ranks fourth in the America East in both scoring (64.0 ppg) and points allowed (58.4). The Black Bears are shooting 32.4% from behind the arc and rank first in the league in 3-point makes per game (6.8). Maine has been impressive in its ball movement, leading the league and ranking 22nd nationally in assists (18.8) and ninth best in the country in assist/turnover ratio (1.59). Maine is shooting 45.5% from the floor and 72.3% from the free throw line.
SCOUTING DAYTON:
Dayton enters tournament play on a three-game winning streak as it is 3-0 on the year following a most recent 87-64 win over Wisconsin. The Flyers, who were selected second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, are led by senior Amber Deane who is averaging 18.0 ppg while shooting 50% from the floor. Kelley Austria and Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova are each averaging 11.7 points while Saicha Grant-Allen leads the rebounding attack, averaging 6.0 per game.
Dayton is averaging 83.0 points per game and are limiting opponents to 65.0 for a scoring margin of 18.0 over its first three games. The Flyers are shooting 43.2% from the floor and 76.4% from the free throw line. Dayton averages 43.0 rebounds per game.
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH DAYTON:
This will be the first ever meeting between Maine and Dayton. Maine is 31-29 all-time against A-10 member schools. Its most wins have came against UMass (14-7). Maine's last win over an A-10 school came in 2013 when it defeated UMass by a score of 86-56.
