Women's Basketball Victorious with 82-51 Drubbing of North Dakota St.

FARGO, N.D. -- The University of Maine women's basketball team (2-2) came out on fire and never cooled off, cruising to an 82-51 victory at North Dakota State on Sunday afternoon.
Maine's offense was clicking on all levels as it assisted on 29 of 34 makes and finished the game 34-for-51 (67%). The Black Bears went 9-for-15 from behind the arc and tallied 27 points off turnovers.
Sigi Koizar filled the stat line, finishing with 16 points, 10 assists, seven steals and six rebounds. For Koizar, it was her ninth-straight game posting double-figures and her second career double-double.
Maine featured four scorers in double-figure as Koizar was joined by Sophie Weckstrom (15), Bella Swan (14) and Liz Wood (11). Wood moved past Bracey Barker for 13th all-time in scoring (1,169) and took sole possession of 10th in UMaine rebounding history (666).
The Black Bears outscored North Dakota St. 21-5 in the first quarter, limiting the Bison to zero field goals over the period, and never looked back.
Maine kept charging throughout the second half as back-to-back three-pointers from Koizar and Wood pushed the lead out to 20. A late jumper from Mikaela Gustafsson sent Maine to the break leading 43-21.
The advantage ballooned to 24 late in the third quarter following a 5-0 run capped on Weckstrom's third triple of the contest.
Leading 68-45 early in the fourth quarter, Maine was able to continue building its lead. A 10-2 run stretched the margin out to 31, the largest of the day for the Black Bears, before closing out the contest with an 82-51 victory.
