The Black Bears even up their record in the road with a loss to the Catamounts, 4-2 at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington.
The Catamounts struck first 17:19 into the first period as Alyssa Gorecki scored on the power play, putting her team up 1-0 after one period.
The Black Bears sparked a comeback in the second period as Sophomore Forward Brooke Stacey scored her own power play goal 8:15 into the second period, tying the game for the Black Bears for the second time this weekend. Her goal was followed 3 minutes later by another power play goal by Sophomore Forward Jessica Vallotton to give the Black Bears the lead. The second period scoring ended with a UVM goal to tie it up from Saana Valkma, tying the game at 2 goals apiece 14 minutes into the period.
The Catamounts would go on to score 2 more unsanswered goals in the third period, the first coming at 12:13 in the third by Danya Colang, and the second an empty netter 19:10 into the third period by Mackenzie MacNeil, sealing the game for the Catamounts.
University of Vermont goaltender Madison Litchfield shut out the Black Bears in the first and third periods, with a save % of .917, stopping 22 of 24 Black Bear shots. On the other end of the ice, Meghann Treacy ended the afternoon with a save % of .909, stopping 30 of 34 shots faced.
Maine evens their record at 5-5-0 overall, 3-3-0 in conference. The Black Bears return to the Alfond this Friday night, November 6th at 7pm to face Northeastern, currently ranked 9th in the country.
