Women's Hockey Shuts Out New Hampshire for First Win of the Season

Orono, Maine-- The University of Maine Women's Hockey Team shut out New Hampshire 4-0 for their first win of the season. The Black Bears are now 1-0-0 in Hockey East Action.
Meghann Treacy made 29 saves for Maine, and Audra Richards scored a hat trick to put her at three points on the season. Maine was 1 for 4 on powerplays and had a total of four penalties. Despite being outshot 29-21, the Black Bears were able to earn a shutout to begin the season.
Brooke Stacey had a goal and an assist, to put her at two points on the season. Richards scored the first goal for Maine 11:38 into the first period on a pass from Anna Wright. Her next goal came on a powerplay in the first period with assists from Brooke Stacey and Mikayla Rogers.
Stacey scored the next goal for Maine with an assist from Nicole Arnold, and Richards scored her third goal of the game on an empty net at 18:33 in the third period.
Audra Richards was the number one star of the game, and Meghann Treacy was the second star. Maine was 1 for 4 on powerplays and had a total of four penalties.
Maine returns home to host Boston University on Sunday, October 4 at 1pm.
