England and Sundquist Lead Men's Swimming at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The University of Maine men's and women's swimming teams competed in a dual meet at Bryant on Saturday afternoon. The women's team won 134-128, while the men's team fell 184-78.
The women's 200-yard medley team of Amber Murray (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine), Naja Harvey (Orono, Minnesota), Taylor Sharp (Burlington, Ontario) and Karerina Mosquera-Cardi (Montreal, Quebec) was victorious with a time of 1:50.44. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Harvey, Mosquera-Cardi, Tessa Lindsley (Bath, Maine) and Emily Borger (Air Force Bass, Massachusetts) won with a time of 1:39.11.
Mosquera-Cardi won the 50-yard free in 25.09, while Borger was third in 25.29. Borger also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.20. Antonia Ulici (Winnipeg, Manitoba) touched second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.32. Kailey Dowd (Mendon, Massachusetts) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:51.21. Dowd placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:19.69. Sharp was third in the event in 5:22.35, while Chloe Adams (Davie, Florida) was fourth in 5:24.50.
Emma Pontius (Portland, Maine) won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.04, while Ulici was third in 1:01.18 and Kingston fourth in 1:01.50. Pontius was second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:12.15, while Victoria Kingston (Bradford, Ontario) was third in 2:13.67. Ulici and Pontius took places two and three in the 200-yard IM in 2:14.07 and 2:15.39 respectively.
Murray placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.70. Harvey won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.17. Abby Linn (Elkhart, Indiana) was third in 1:10.61, while Cecelia McEachern (Ellsworth, Maine) was fourth in 1:12.33. Harvey also took top honors in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:27.00.
The women's team returns to action on Jan. 30 when they travel to New Hampshire.
On the men's side, the 200-yard medley relay team of Connor Mayhew (Waterboro, Maine), Peter Tirabassi (Lewiston, Maine), Nicholas Sundquist (Windham, Maine) and Matt England (Bangor, Maine) placed second in 1:40.13. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of England, Kevin Clyne (Salem, Massachusetts), Mayhew and Cameron Dwyer (Orono, Maine) was third in 1:31.94.
Sundquist was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.68. Sundquist finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.01. Ryan Fahey (Quincy, Massachusetts) was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:26.40.
England was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 52.36 and the 200-yard backstroke in in 1:59.38 Mayhew placed fourth in the 100-backstroke in 57.14 and was second in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:59.99.
Fahey captured the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.48, while Cameron Dwyer was third in 2:03.65. Fahey captured third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:17.91.
Sundquist was second in the 200-yard IM in 2:01.56.
