Piteo Wins Championship with Quincy Gems

University of Maine pitcher Chris Piteo (Middle Village, N.Y.) recently won a championship with the Quincy Gems of the Prospects League. Piteo pitched in 13 games for the Gems this summer, recording 18.2 innings. He finished 1-0 with a 3.85 ERA. Piteo struck out 15 batters on the season en route to the title.

Piteo recently completed his freshman season with the Black Bears, pitching in three games his rookie season.
