
Richards' Game-Winning Goal Lifts Maine Past Vermont, 2-1

Burlington, Vermont --- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team closed its two game road trip with a 2-1 win against the University of Vermont at Gutterson Fieldhouse Sunday Afternoon. Maine improves to 7-8-2 on the season, while Vermont falls to 8-8-1.
Maine jumped out to an early lead, again, with a one-timer from Jennifer More (Deloraine, Manitoba) at (8:06) in the first period. Hailey Browne (Oakville, Ontario) and Katy Massey (Waterville, Maine) were each credited with an assist on the play. The assist was Massey's first point on the season.
Vermont evened the score at (11:26) with a point blank goal from Klara Myren. Amanda Pelkey and Rachael Ade each had an assist.
Meghann Treacy (Lake Peakskill, New York) and Madison Litchfield stopped 17 combined shots on goal in the second period to keep the game tied at one goal apiece.
Audra Richards beat Litchfield glove side for game-winning goal at (17:48) in the third period. Brooke Stacey (Kahnawake, Quebec) had the only assist on the game-winning play.
Meghann Treacy saved 31 of 32 shots on goal, while Madison Litchfield saved 19 of 21 shots on goal. The Black Bears were 0 for 4 on the power play, and Vermont had zero goals in three opportunities.
The Black Bears return to action December 5th at the Alfond Arena against #1 Boston College. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
