Beckford Earns Third CAA Rookie of the Week Honor

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine freshman running back Nigel Beckford (Bridgeport, Conn.) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday morning. The honor is Beckford's third rookie of the week accolade of the season.
Beckford rushed for a game-high 104-yards on 24 carries in Maine's 24-17 victory at Elon. The Black Bears' freshman running back added two scores, one on a rush and one on a catch, in the win. Beckford hauled in two catches for 34-yards, including a 29-yard catch and run for a touchdown.
The Black Bears return to action in their final home game of the 2014-15 regular season when they host #1 New Hampshire on Saturday, Nov. 22. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. live on NBC Sports Network.
