Wilson and Stocker Lead Women's Cross Country at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet

BRONX, N.Y. – The University of Maine women's cross country team was led by its junior leaders as Annabelle Wilson and Carolyn Stocker were the two fastest Maine finishers at the NCAA cross country Northeast regionals held at Van Cortlandt Park. The duo finished 145th and 153rd respectively as the race started at 12 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Wilson was the first Black Bear to cross the finish line as she clocked in with a time of 22:47.71, improving on her 6k time from last season when she ran the course with a time of 23:11.8. Stocker wasn't far behind with a time of 22:54.37.
Freshman Cassandra Howard was next for the Black Bears as she wrapped up her first cross country campaign with a time of 24:18.48, while Shannon O'Neil was next with a time of 24:44.67.
Amanda Shuman (25:17.34) and Abigail Wessels were the Black Bears' final participants as the pair tallied times of 25:17.34 and 25:26.39, respectively.
The Iona Gaels placed first as a team, and had the first-overall runner Kate Avery on its roster, as the team recorded 91 team points. Providence took second with a team score of 128 points while Dartmouth was third with a mark of 136 points.
New Hampshire was the first America East team in the standings as the squad placed sixth overall (183) while Maine was 37th with 1021 points.
