Maddy McVicar to Join Women's Basketball in 2015-16

ORONO, Maine -- Head coach Richard Barron and his staff have announced that Maddy McVicar will join the University of Maine women's basketball team in the fall of 2015-16.
McVicar, a 5-4 guard from Calais, Maine, has officially agreed to attend the University of Maine play for the Black Bears beginning in the fall of 2014.
"We are very excited to welcome Maddy to our basketball family," commented Barron. "Our staff have been big fans of Maddy since she started attending our summer camps three years ago. Maddy is a very creative play maker and a super competitive person. She excels in multiple sports and will bring a great work ethic to our program. We look forward to adding another gifted student and talented athlete to our roster."
McVicar, a two-time Bangor Daily News All-Maine Second Team selection averaged 18 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals during her junior year. A two-time Bangor Daily News Owen O. Osbourne MVP honoree, McVicar led the Calais Blue Devils to the State Championship last season.
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
