Football Looks for Third-Straight Win in First Ever Meeting with Elon

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football team (4-5, 3-3 CAA) looks for its third-straight victory as it travels to take on new conference member Elon (1-9, 0-6 CAA) for the first time in history on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m.
GAME STORYLINES:
- This will be Maine and Elon's first ever meeting as the Phoenix are currently in the midst of their first season in the CAA. Maine is 3-1 all-time against teams from North Carolina, defeating Appalachian State (2) and Shaw University and dropping a contest against Western Carolina. Maine is 2-1 all-time in North Carolina with its last visit being a 34-12 victory at App. St. in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Playoffs.
- Maine enters the weekend coming off a thrilling 33-20 victory over #8 Richmond. The win was Maine's largest over a ranked opponent in Orono since knocking off #6 Delaware in 2011. Maine forced five turnovers in the win, its most turnovers forced since taking it away six times against UMass on Oct. 31, 2009 (4 INTs, 2 FR).
- The Black Bears, who have rushed for an average of 195 yards in their last two games, will go up against an Elon defense which ranks 11th in the league against the run (203.1 ypg).
- Elon enters the match-up winless in league play and searching to break up a seven game losing skid dating back to a 20-13 win against Charlotte on Sept. 20. The Phoenix are coming off a 17-7 loss at William & Mary and have failed to score over 10 points in three of their last four games.
- Elon currently ranks last in the league in rush offense (85.1 ypg) and fifth in the league in passing (220.2). The Black Bears rank second in the league in pass defense (174.7 ypg).
