Nigel Beckford Garners CAA Rookie of the Week Honors

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine freshman running back Nigel Beckford (Bridgeport, Conn.) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, Oct. 27.
Beckford rushed for a game-high 107-yards on 25 carries in Maine's 20-14 victory at Rhode Island on Saturday, Oct. 25. Beckford added a six-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to bring Maine within two points of the Rams' lead. Beckford's 25 carries and 107-yards were both career-highs for the freshman back.
This is the second CAA Rookie of the Week honor received by Beckford this season who also won the award following his two touchdown performance on Sept. 27 at Towson.
The Black Bears return to action when they host Richmond on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 12:30 PM.
