PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island --- Matthew England (Bangor, Maine) and Nicholas Sundquist (Windham, Maine) each won four events, while Eric Gaulin (Northpoint, Maine) won a pair to lead the University of Maine men's swimming team at their meet at Providence College.
England won the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:08.97, the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 52:44, and was a part of Maine's 200-meter freestyle relay which took home top honors with a time of 1:38.60. Along with Sundquist, Gaulin and Kevin Clyne (Salem, Massachusetts) were also on the team.
Sundquist also won the 200-meter freestyle in 1:57.32 and the 100-meter freestyle in 52:24.
Shane Kinnon (Malden, Massachusetts) won the 100-meter breast stroke in 1:09.24, while Ryan Fahey (Quincy Massachusetts) took home top honors in the 200-meter breast stroke in 2:30.54.
The Black Bears return to action on Nov. 7 and 8 when they host Vermont and Boston College.
