
Fahey, England and Dwyer Lead Men's Swimming in Season-Opener

KINGSTON, Rhode Island --- Ryan Fahey (Quincy, Massachusetts) and Matthew England (Bangor, Maine) each won three events, while Cameron Dwyer (Orono, Maine) won a pair to lead the University of Maine men's swimming team at the season-opening meet at the University of Rhode Island.
Fahey won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.08, the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.12 and was part of Maine's 200-yard medley relay team which took home top honors with a time of 1:42.35. Along with England, Timothy Edison (Westford, Massachusetts) and Eric Gaulin (Northport, Maine) were also on the team.
England also on the 50-yard free in 22:53 and the 100-yard butterfly in 54.53. Dwyer won the 200 butterfly in 2:02.23 and and the 200 breaststroke in 2:23:04.
Nikolas Sundquist won the 100 backstroke in 52:29, while Peter Tirabassi (Lewiston, Maine) took home top honors in the 100 yard breaststroke i n1:04.95.
The Black Bears compete again on Saturday at Providence.
