Football Looks for Eighth-Straight Win against Rhode Island on Saturday

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football team (2-5, 1-3 CAA) looks for its eighth straight win against Rhode Island (0-7, 0-3 CAA) as it travels to face the Rams on Saturday, Oct. 25 at noon live on the American Sports Network.
GAME STORYLINES:
- This will be the 93rd meeting between Rhode Island and Maine. The Black Bears lead the all-time series 55-34-3 and have won seven-straight against the Rams and 12 of the last 13 meetings. Maine has outscored Rhode Island 96-6 in the last two meetings and have won five of the last six meetings in Rhode Island dating back to 2001. Maine has not allowed a touchdown in the series in the last 158 minutes of game action.
- In last season's meeting, Maine out gained Rhode Island 501-224 en route to a 41-0 victory which sealed the 2013 CAA Championship. Senior's Damarr Aultman and Arthur Williams each caught TD passes while former RB Rickey Stevens tallied a school-record with a 90-yard rushing score.
- It will be homecoming weekend for Rhode Island who enters the match-up on an 11-game losing skid dating back to Oct. 26, 2013. Last time out, the Rams were shutout 37-0 at Richmond. The Rams ranked last in the CAA in scoring offense (11.7 ppg) and scoring defense (39.7 points against).
- Both teams feature inexperience at key positions with Maine freshmen QB Drew Belcher and RB Nigel Beckford and Rhode Island's redshirt freshman QB James Caparell and true freshman RB Harold Cooper all seeing significant time.
- Maine's 12th ranked rush offense (75.6 ypg) will look to get going on the ground, coming off its best ground game of the year (169-yards), it will face the Rams' 12th ranked run defense (258.9 ypg).
