
Football Returns Home to Host #6/5 Villanova

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football team (2-2, 1-0 CAA) returns home to face #6/5 Villanova (3-1, 1-0 CAA) on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12:30 PM live on WVII/WFVX (Bangor), WPME (Portland) and Fox College Sports Pacific.
GAME STORYLINES:
- Maine enters the contest 9-8 all-time against Villanova as it broke the series tie last year with a thrilling 37-35 victory on the road. The teams have split the last four games dating back to 2010. Maine won four-straight from 2001-2006. The Black Bears are 5-3 all-time at home against Villanova but have not defeated the Wildcats in Orono since 2006.
- Maine evened up its CAA opener record with a thrilling 27-24 victory last weekend at Towson. Dan Collins' 37-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Dunn with just 52-seconds remaining proved to be the game-winner. Collins set career highs in the game in completions (19), passing yards (225) and touchdowns (2).
- Villanova travels to Orono riding a three-game winning streak. The Wildcats began the season with a 27-26 double-overtime loss at Syracuse before reeling off three-straight wins including a 49-31 victory in their CAA opener over James Madison. In its three victories this season, Villanova has outscored its opponents 140-44.
- Maine ranks second in the league in passing yards allowed (149.0) and third in the CAA in total defense (339.8). Villanova enters as the top ranked scoring offense in the league (41.5), second in total offense at 508.3 total yards per game and fourth in the league in pass offense (250.0).
