
Football Hosts UAlbany on Homecoming Weekend

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football team (2-4, 1-2 CAA) hosts UAlbany (4-2, 1-2 CAA) on homecoming weekend in Orono live Saturday at 12:30 on WVII/WPME Portland and Fox College Sports Pacific.
GAME STORYLINES
- Maine enters the contest 3-4 all-time against UAlbany. The teams have split the last four meetings as Maine will be looking to make it two in a row against the Great Danes after a 33-27 win on the road last season. UAlbany is 3-0 in Orono and lost when the teams met in a neutral site home game for the Black Bears played in Portland, Maine in 2005.
- In last season's meeting, the Black Bears racked up 397-yards while Nigel Jones rushed for two scores in a 33-27 victory. John Ebeling's touchdown with 3:11 left in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner while Trevor Bates' sack fumble late sealed the win which moved Maine to 9-1 and the best start in school-history.
- UAlbany began the year 4-0 before losing its last two CAA contests. The Great Danes are 2-0 on the road this season and have scored at least 28 points in its last four games. UAlbany running back Omar Osbourne leads the league in rushing at 117.0 yards per game.
- Maine has shutdown passing attacks thus far as it ranks second in the league in pass defense (170.2 ypg). UAlbany enters with the third ranked rushing offense (174.7) and will face Maine's eighth ranked rush defense (197.5). The Great Danes rank first in the CAA in take aways (18) and boast a +15 turnover margin. Maine leads the league in red zone offense (9-for-10).
- Join Strong Mind Strong Body and the University of Maine in the First Annual "Pink and White Fight" as we take a stand in the battle against breast cancer! Fans are asked to wear pink, white, or both to the UMaine Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 12:30 PM as the Black Bears take on UAlbany.
- Those attending the game are also asked to please bring a small donation to aid in the fight. All contributors will be eligible to win a selection of prizes throughout the game! All proceeds will help aid partner "Colleges Against Cancer," which focuses on local charities and movements in the cause.

This will be the eighth meeting between UAlbany and Maine and just the second with both teams being members of the CAA ... UAlbany holds the all-time series record 4-3 ... Maine won the most recent meeting 33-27 at UAlbany last season ... The road team has won five of the seven match-ups, including each of the last four ... Maine is 0-3 against UAlbany in Orono with its one "home" win coming in 2005 in Portland, Maine ... Maine and UAlbany have played once each of the last five years and have traded victories in the last four meetings ... In last season's meeting, Christophe Mulumba Tshimanga recorded a CAA single game-high 19 tackles.
