Maine Swimming and Diving Completes Day One of Dartmouth Invitational

WHITE RIVER JUCTION, Vt.- The University of Maine swimming and diving teams completed day one of the Dartmouth Invitational on Friday night. After day one, the women are in sixth with 79 points, and the men are in fifth with 38 points.
Maine had some strong finishes after day one. Lauren Dwyer(Orono, Maine), Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) Erica Smrcina (North Falmouth, Mass) and Tessa Lindsley (Bath, Maine) earned a fourth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:39.78).
Dwyer finished tenth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.74) Harvey finished 14th at (24.97). Harvey also earned a 12th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.06). Freshman Katerina Misquera-Cardi (Montreal, Canada) placed 11th in the 200-yard IM ( 2:15.32).
On the men's side Ryan Fahey (Quincy, Mass.) finished 22nd in the 500-yard freestyle (4:57.77) followed by teammates David Vittori (South Berwick, Maine) (5:00.39) and Robbie Bickford (Milford, Maine) (5:01.21). John Carlucci (Danbury, Conn.) had a strong swim, placing 13th in the 200-yard IM (1:59.85).
The men picked up an 11th place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, led by Matt England, (Bangor, Maine) Ryan Fahey, Sergey Terrio (Oakland, Maine) and Robbie Bickford.
The women finished 12th in the 400-yard medley relay, led by Shannon Bender (Cumberland, R.I.), Abby Linn (Elkhart, Ind.), Taylor Sharp (Burlington, Ontario) and Emily Buczkowski (Woolwich, Maine).
The swimming and diving teams start day two of the Dartmouth Invitational Saturday at 10am.
