Swimming & Diving Accept $7,500 Check from 'Erin's Run'

BANGOR, Maine -- Head swimming and diving coach Susan Lizzotte attended a check presentation ceremony at Spruce Run in Bangor on Thursday, June 13. Lizzotte was on hand to support a $7,500 check presented to Spruce Run before accepting a matching $7,500 check presented to the University of Maine swimming and diving program.
The money was raised through the inaugural Erin's Run: 5K Road Race. This year's race was held in Bangor in April to honor Erin McGrath Woolley, a former UMaine student-athlete with the swimming program, and in support of Spruce Run, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those affected by domestic abuse.
Several swim team members competed in the race and played a major role in organizing the event.
Total funds raised during this year's race were $15,000.
