Baseball Drops 2013 America East Title Game to Binghamton

Kingston, R.I. -- The University of Maine baseball team dropped the 2013 America East Championship game 4-0 to Binghamton on Sunday afternoon at Bill Beck field in Kingston, R.I. Maine won a pair of games on Friday to force Sunday's game, which was originally scheduled for Saturday in Lowell, Mass.
Binghamton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Zach Blanden walked and scored when Daniel Nevares singled.
The Bearcats added to their lead in the top of the third inning. David Schanz doubled and scored when Shaun McGraw singled to the left side.
Binghamton added to its lead in the top of the sixth inning. Brian Ruby and John Howell both were hit by pitches. Nick Pancerella drove home Ruby with a single through the right side as the Maine defense was in transition expecting a bunt.
Binghamton added a run in the top of the ninth. Jake Thomas doubled and scored when Nevares singled to right field.
Pitching on just one day rest, Mike Connolly (Bridgewater, Mass.) went six innings on the mound for the Black Bears. He allowed three runs on eight hits and falls to 6-4 on the season. D.J. Voisine (Plainville, Conn.) replaced Connolly on the hill. Voisine went three innings and allowed a run on three hits.
Jake Lambert got the start for Binghamton and went eight shutout innings. He scattered just five hits in the game and improvs to 7-2 on the season. Jake Cryts started the ninth inning for Binghamton and walked the first two batters that he faced. Mike Urbanski replaced Cryts and retired the side.
Maine placed three players in the 2013 America East All-Tournament team in Tommy Lawrence (West Haven, Conn.) who went 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA, Mike Connolly who was 1-1, 2.40 ERA and Eric White (Brewer, Maine) who hit .050 with three runs scored and six RBI.
