
Swimming Adds Pair of Divers

ORONO, Maine -- Head swimming & diving coach Susan Lizzotte has announced that divers Tori Leonard (Kennebunk, Maine) and Hayli Weitz (Long Beach, N.Y.) have completed their National Letters of Intent and will be joining the Black Bears in the fall of 2013.
Leonard, looking to major in engineering when she joins the Black Bears, spent four years diving at Kennebunk high school. Leonard, the 2013 captain of the diving team, was named to the 2013 all-star team and was the 1-meter Class A State Diver of the Year and Diving Champion in 2012 and 2013. Leonard also was honored as the 1-meter Class A Southwestern Diving Champion in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Leonard, a four-year honor roll member, was named to the all-academic team in 2012 and 2013.
Weitz, who plans to study childhood education at the University of Maine, joins the Black Bears after competing for Long Beach High School, the Long Island Divers and the Oceanside Green Flies. Weitz, who captained her squad in 2012-13, was a state qualifier in 2013 and a division champion in 2012-13. The 5'4" diver who won a pair of coaches awards, was a county qualifer from 2007-2013 and was a founding Surf Team member and captain. Weitz was also a captain of her gymnastics team and helped coach the Oceanside Green Flies diving squad.
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
