Three Honored to Swimming & Diving All-Conference Team

ORONO, Maine -- A trio of women's swim and dive team members have received America East All-Conference honors, as announced by the conference office. Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) and Erica Smrcina (North Falmouth, Mass.) each were named All-Conference in swimming while Kara Capossela (Greenwich, Conn.) received the honor for her performance on the diving boards.
Harvey played a part in setting seven new school records at the 2013 America East Championships. The sophomore set new individual marks in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events while also setting a new school-record in the 50-yard freestyle event. In the relays, Harvey helped set new records in both the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays as well as the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays. Harvey placed second overall in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.94), and third in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.76) and the 50-yard freestyle (23.71). The team took home third in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.57), the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.91) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:28.31) while placing fifth in the 400-yard medley relay (3:51.06.).
Smrcina set a pair of school-records at the America East Championships for the Black Bears. The junior set a new school-record in the 100-yard butterfly prelims with a mark of 56.14 before taking third overall in 56.40. Smrcina, who took home seventh in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:05.01, also helped the team set a new mark in the 200-yard medley with a third place finish in 1:43.91.
Capossela was stellar on the boards all season for the Black Bears. After qualifying first in the three-meter dive prelims at the America East Championships, the junior diver took home third place in the event with a score of 264.25. Capossela placed fifth in the one-meter event with a final score of 234.50. Earlier in the season, Capossela set new school marks in both the one-meter (265.75) and the three-meter (279.65).
