#10/11 Football Returns Home to Host Stony Brook

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football team (7-1, 4-0 CAA) looks to stay perfect at home and in conference play when it hosts new league member Stony Brook (3-4, 1-3 CAA) on Saturday.
GAME STORYLINES
- A win for the Black Bears will move them to 8-1 for the first time since 2002. Maine has only started a season 8-1 or better four times since 1892 (2002, 1989, 1965, 1961). Maine last began a season 5-0 in league play in 2002.
- Maine has won nine straight FCS contests, dating back to a 51-7 win on Nov. 10, 2012 against Georgia State. The Black Bears are looking to remain undefeated at home, a year after going 2-4 at Alfond Stadium. Maine last started a season 4-0 at home in 2006.
- The Black Bears enter the weekend coming off a thrilling 37-35 victory at Villanova. Marcus Wasilewski paced Maine at Villanova with 423 total yards, including 337-yards passing. Wasilewski now stands just 56-yards short of passing Bobby Wilder (1984-87) for seventh all-time in passing yards.
- Mike Cole recorded his team-leading fifth sack of the season at Villanova. The senior defensive end now stands just 1.5 sacks short of tying Mike Denino's ('89) all-time sacks record at Maine (27.5).
- Stony Brook, in its first season in the CAA, enters the weekend winners of two of its last three but have lost its last three CAA contests. Last weekend, the Seawolves dropped a 31-13 decision against New Hampshire. In that game, James Kenner rushed for 113-yards to lead Stony Brook.
- Maine and Stony Brook share a short history as the career series is tied at 1-1. Maine lost the first ever meeting 30-23 in double overtime on the road but won the last meeting, 28-13, in Orono in 2008.
- Stony Brook's defense prides itself against the pass, allowing a league low 158.3 passing yards per game while Maine's offense enters the weekend second in the league in passing yards (262.2).
- In its last three games, Maine has outscored its opponents 58-15 in the first quarter.
