Maine ties UNH 2-2

DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie at New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon. Maine moves to 0-1-1 on the season with the draw.
The Black Bears struck first when freshman Emilie Brigham (Anoka, Minn.) had her first career goal on a pass from senior Kayla Kaluzny at 15:03 into the first. The first period ended with Maine leading 1-0.
The Wildcats scored at 10:02 of the second period to tie the game for a short time when freshman Cassandra Vilgrain put the puck in the net on a pass from Caroline Broderick.
UNH took the lead minutes later when sophomore Heather Kashman knocked the puck in on a pass from Jenna Lascelle at 12:47 into the second period leaving the score 2-1 heading into the third period.
The Black Bears battled for a goal in the third and scored with just minutes remaining when junior Jennifer More scored the game tying goal at 17:37 after Maine had pulled goalie Meghann Treacy to create a stronger offensive front.
The Black Bears and Wildcats played in ovetime but neither team came up with a goal, leaving the final score 2-2.
Maine was out shot by UNH 52-19.
Black Bear goalie Meghann Treacy had 50 saves while UNH goalie Vilma Vaattovaara had 19 saves.
The Black Bears return home Friday October 18th to take on Quinnipiac at 7pm.
