Dougherty, Richards Honored by WHEA

Wakefield, Mass. – Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Michigan) and Audra Richards (Maplewood, Minnesota) have been honored with a Women's Hockey East Association (WHEA) weekly award as announced by the league on Monday.
Dougherty has been named the Athletic Republic Player of the Week for her efforts over the weekend series against non-conference opponent Union College. Dougherty extended her team points lead in both contests as she notched an assist in the 4-3 loss on Friday night while also tallying two goals in the 3-2 loss on Saturday afternoon. Dougherty finished the weekend series with a team high 10 shots on goal.
Richards has been named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for the first weekly award in her career. Richards finished the weekend with six shots on net for the Black Bears while notching two assists over the weekend, one in each contest.
Maine returns to action on January 5 and 6 as it travels to Brown for a two game series. Game times are slated for 2:00 PM for both contests. The Black Bears return home on January 12 and 13 as they face-off against Boston University for a two game series. Puck is slated to drop at 3:00 PM for both games.
